1022 over North Branch Susquehanna River
The Ulster Bridge has been bypassed by a steel girder bridge with concrete deck and parapets, resting on concrete abutments and piers. The original bridge, still extant, is a pin-connected Parker through truss, set on stone piers. Built in 1904 by the Pennsylvania Steel Company, it is one of the longest highway bridges in Pennsylvania. Each of its 14 spans has 28 pin connections. Before the construction of the new bridge, it was the longest pin-connected truss bridge known to carry traffic. The original bridge was determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
