TR 937 over Cayuta Creek

This 165’ long, former railroad bridge is one span.   Fabricated by the Lehigh Valley Railroad circa 1892, it is a pin connected Pratt thru truss bridge and is supported on one stone abutment and one concrete abutment.  The heavy, deep trusses are characteristic of railroad construction with built up Z sections for the verticals and eye bar packs for the lower chords.  At the midpoints of the compression verticals, sub-struts add stiffness to the columns.  Suspended from the lower panel point pins, the floorbeams support two lines of riveted stringers that supported the original track lines.  This bridge has been determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
