Skelly and Loy has been providing engineering services to the mining industry since 1972 with focus on the coal and construction aggregates/materials industries and treatment of mine water discharge. The Mining Services Group is staffed with experienced surface and underground mining engineers, civil engineers, geologists, licensed surveyors, and mining and environmental specialists who can guide proposed and active mining operations from a pre-feasibility stage through detailed, first-order geologic investigations; detailed design (equipment selection, material handling, and water handling and treatment); local zoning; state and federal mining and environmental permitting; financial considerations (capital investment, operating costs, and cash flow projections and analysis); and reclamation to achieve post-mining land use objectives. The group is recognized nationally and internationally for its experience and expertise in mine design, planning, and operational assessments. Skelly and Loy has provided its services in every coal-producing region of the U.S. and in five continents around the world. The Mining Services Group is complemented with state-of-the-art engineering tools and software/simulation packages and is augmented by our staff of technicians, environmental scientists, and specialists experienced in working with a variety of mining projects. Assignments include due diligence investigations and fatal flaw analysis; financial evaluations, valuations, and mineral economics; geologic investigations and reserve studies; mine feasibility studies; mine and quarry planning; operations audits; and sale and acquisition analysis.
