Capital Area Christian Church Site Development
Client : Capital Area Christian ChurchLocation: Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

Skelly and Loy, Inc. provided civil engineering, surveying, and municipal coordination for the development of this new church facility complex on a 53-acre site. Specific tasks included layout, grading, stormwater management, and erosion and sedimentation control design. The initial construction phase included a multi-purpose building featuring a700-person worship and event space as well as modular office buildings, a hiking/nature trail, a 260-vehicle parking lot, and an on-site wastewater treatment system with stream discharge. Skelly and Loy also completed plans and permitting for a fully accessible playground and pavilion with employees contributing volunteer labor during construction. Future development plans include a 1,500-seat sanctuary, additional classrooms with a courtyard, a retreat center, additional pavilions, athletic fields, and parking.
A unique feature of the project involved coordination facilitated by Skelly and Loy with local youth softball and soccer associations. This resulted in construction of on-site softball and soccer fields at a shared cost and transformed the property from a church serving only its members to a true community asset.
