Due Diligence Investigations of Anthracite Reserves and Operations

Skelly and Loy performed due diligence investigations of the holdings of a major anthracite producer, including surface mines, processing facilities, bagging operations, and sales yards, in advance of a recapitalization transaction. Specific investigations included reserves assessments; operating permit and performance bond status; environmental and health and safety compliance; and mining, processing, maintenance, and housekeeping performance. The investigations began with in-depth review of producer-provided and public-access information and data, followed by employee interviews, multiple site visits, and discussions with regulatory agency representatives. In addition, Skelly and Loy also completed Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for properties included in the transaction and third-party review of Phase II ESA activities resulting from the Phase I findings.
