Historic Structures Survey

Skelly and Loy has conducted numerous historic structures surveys that range in size from modest single resource investigations to large county-wide studies involving hundreds of resources. Our historians and architectural historians have the expertise to identify, document, and evaluate the historic structures that they encounter in the field. We have broad experience surveying residential, agricultural, industrial, and commercial resources as well as historic districts, rural historic landscapes, and linear resources. We are well-trained to handle both high style and vernacular building traditions, with specialized knowledge of historic bridges, railroads, and other transportation resources. Surveys can be tailored to the needs of the project, including preliminary reconnaissance surveys, the production of constraints mapping, and full historic structures inventories.

Skelly and Loy has the resources to conduct historic structures and windshield surveys quickly and efficiently. Our field crews are equipped with detailed field mapping, laptop computers, hand-held Global Positioning Systems (GPS), digital cameras, and four-wheel drive vehicles. Because we have the necessary resources at hand, we can customize any historic structures survey and complete preliminary inventories in the field.
