Lead-Based Paint Inspections And Risk Assessments

Buildings constructed or significantly modified prior to 1980 most likely contain lead-based paint (LBP). The OSHA regulations found at 29 CFR 1926.62 in part require owners of buildings to know whether or not LBP is present prior to renovation and demolition activities. Skelly and Loy is highly experienced in performing LBP inspections, including risk assessments, prior to pre-demolition or major renovation projects. Our personnel have met the training requirements set forth by the U.S. EPA and are certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. We oversee the performance of LBP inspections by using a variety of methods, including the paint chip extraction method, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), wipe sampling, and collection/analysis of paint chips. Our industrial hygiene staff is experience in providing recommendations for handling and mitigating contaminated materials and developing cost estimates for mitigation procedures.
