Mold Investigations And Remediation

The buildup of excess moisture within buildings (due to leaky roofs, windows, and pipes and/or malfunctioning heating and ventilation systems) can spur the growth of mold. Mold can cause or worsen certain illnesses (e.g., some allergic and occupation-related diseases and infections). Under the direction and supervision of a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Skelly and Loy will conduct inspections, surveys, and assessments of facilities for mold growth and/or moisture intrusion and develop cost-effective mitigation strategies.

Mold assessments typically begin with a thorough visual inspection of all accessible building components and mechanical/HVAC systems, focusing on signs and symptoms of water intrusion, leaks, and malfunctioning air-handling and conditioning equipment. The types and concentrations of airborne mold found indoors are compared with those present outdoors to determine if the source of indoor airborne mold spores is actually indoor growth or spores migrating indoors from the outdoor environment. If the results of the mold assessment warrant remediation, Skelly and Loy can develop site-specific abatement plans. In addition, our personnel possess the experience to supervise the abatement work, ensure compliance with the bid specifications, and collect and analyze air clearance samples.
