Mine and Quarry Planning
Skelly and Loy is experienced in mine plan development for both surface and underground mining systems from conceptualization to final reclamation. Plans may be inclusive of all operational aspects of mining, including overburden and mineral handling, storage locations, haulroad placement, volumetrics, equipment selection, scheduling, reclamation, and economics. Consideration is given by our firm to annual production; physical, environmental, and permitting restrictions (limits of mining, ultimate depth, etc.); desired benching configuration; location of the groundwater table; regulatory constraints; and other impacting factors. Underground mine plans have entailed design of mine access, ventilation systems, roof control procedures, and haulage systems. Carlson Mining Software, an industry-accepted application software, is employed to prepare many of the mine plans in an electronic format compatible with AutoCAD. In the coal sector, we have prepared mine plans for both continuous miner and longwall mines. Skelly and Loy provides a full range of services to the coal industry, and our engineers have practical engineering, operations, and experience in management of mines.
