Stream Restoration Design
Skelly and Loy has extensive experience in the assessment, design, restoration, and enhancement of streams using natural stream channel techniques. This approach is based on applying principles of fluvial geomorphology (FGM) to restore natural stability to a stream system. Various levels of FGM principles have been successfully applied to both rural and urban environments. By incorporating these principles in project designs, Skelly and Loy's projects realize the benefits of minimized scour while maintaining natural sediment transport, reduced flooding potential, reduced property loss and damage, enhanced fish and wildlife habitat, and improved stream stability.
